Hi all,

Some idiot* has installed the hackulo.us repo in Cydia and also downloaded the installous app on my jailbroken iPhone, however, no other apps have been downloaded nor installed.

How can I completely and safely delete it?

I've removed the repo and the app from Cydia. Is there anything else to delete?

I should have a recent back up. Is it better to restore from iTunes or erase the iPhone and then restore?

Thanks for any help.

*I was that idiot! ;)

That's it?

There's no hidden files that are faxing my soul to NASA that need to be deleted?

It may have added some dependencies so try to install on another phone and see what else it lists to install.
The program of installous isnt bad at all, it just allows the installation of .api's

So you're saying that there's no need to be concerned about removing installous completely?

Obviously a hacked .ipa could contain malicious code, but as I said, I didn't install anything other than the installous app itself.

I wanted to try out the Resupported app before purchasing. I did get the trial but it ran out before the cable came in the post. Resupported is only $4 so I'll buy it and hopefully it'll work.

Maturola: What about the installous app?

What's the problem? Go into Cydia and delete the Installous package and you're done. If you want to restart your phone. There is nothing to it. Delete Appsync as well because I'm pretty sure you have that. Same process, find it and delete and you're done.

Not really sure what was my reply in here, it seen that my post was removed by a mod, can't think why since I am always very careful to stay under the rules..but oh well...

It should be fine after you removed it from Cydia, but if you are really concerned then restore as NEW and use an old backup (which I think it would be overkill)

Thanks for all the help. :) I'll erase all content from the iPhone and then restore backup from iTunes.

Maturola: I was just asking if you thought Installous could also contain malicious code. What was in your deleted post?

As i said, can't remember what could have been on my post...but anyways..

I don't believe that the actual installous have anything else but a IPA installer, it have been use for some people (very small population) to distributed beta testing IPA so that they don't have to add theirs friends phones to the Developers pools of phones. The issue arrive with what you install after that with it, I've seen many reports on other forums about real bad information trackers bundel with those hacked IPAs.
