delete music in hard disk from iTunes

im a newbie here.

anyway

trying to remove duplicates from my itunes library.

when i click command-delete on a song. it removes the song from the library, but not the hard disk.

my settings allow itunes to manage my music.
i moved my home directory to a different partition from the system files.
i followed the tutorial on maczealots.com

what is the problem here?

Make sure your looking in the Library and not a playlist (although you can delete from playlists whilst holding OPTION to get the same effect). You should get a dialogue box asking whether you want to keep the song file or not when you press DELETE on a track. There's no need to press COMMAND too. Are you not getting this dialogue box?
