Deleted apps. Deleted forever?

Let's say you bought an app. Later on, for space constraints (I have an original 4GB iPhone), you decide to delete it from your iPhone. Is it then also deleted from your iTunes account, or does it stay on your computer so you can sync it back onto your iPhone at a later date?

If the app is also on your computer, it stays there until you go in iTunes and delete it.

I'm pretty sure that even if you don't have it on your computer and you delete it from your phone, once you've purchased it, you can download it again for free.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The App will remain in your Mobile Applications folder until you delete it (and agree to trash) from iTunes. Even then, you will not be charged to download the App at another date.
