Deleted files not going in Trash

I am Mac newb and I have a Core2Duo MBP with 10.4.9. Recently I am noticing that, the files that I delete from anywhere in my machine, do not got to Trash but get deleted permanently. This was not happening initially.

Is there any setting that I need to change to get this fixed? Pls let me know if am missing something here...

I press cmd+delete, it goes to the trash.

command+delete is the keyboard command for the excessively time+effort consuming drag-to-trash-can.

Fixed the problem

I press cmd+delete, it goes to the trash.
What do you press to delete??

I fixed the problem... The user permissions to Read/Write was not turned on
