Deleted Macromedia folder, Sites Won't Work Now

I was following some sparse instructions a few days ago on how to clean up old internet history and I think I messed up big time. I went into User ~ Library ~ Preferences ~ Macromedia and deleted some of the folders in there, then finally deleted the entire Macromedia folder. The trash has since been emptied. I went to youtube today and the videos won't load or even show up. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash player, but nothing has changed. I'm not 100% sure the Macromedia folder is to blame, but nothing's worked right since then so I'm guessing that's the problem. Any advice would be monumentally appreciated.
