Deleted my old Mobile me account lost all my contacts
today i got rid of the old mobile me account beciase the phone kept trying to log in saying wrong password so being i have not used mobile me in over a year i removed it and I lost all of my contacts

my last sync to my mac minii was 11/11/2011 i do have an old copy on gmail still but i tried to restore the phone from backup and after 30 mins that did not work, I will have all my text messages but they are stripped of all names so instead of the thread being a sms back and forth with my friend it just shows hi s phone number ...any ideas... I dont have time machine on the mac mini

any ideas?

Wouldn't it make sence that enforce you did something like deleting mobile me you might want to back up your contacts (export) on your computer then your able to re-import them if it goes wrong?

I did have a full backup dated from 2 weeks ago

maybe apple should have autosaved it to the phone, how many lines of code would that have been to add to the disaster called Mobileme that sucked from day one and i paid for?

Deleting MobileMe usually will ask you if you want to keep your contacts or delete them. There's your answer. Outside of this, no idea.

Yes it did and I was ok with that but I had no idea mobile me had hijacked the $700 iphones 3k file of names and phone numbers I have never had this happen I have owned multiple phones from Rim Nokia Apple samsung, I have a near duplicate backup on my other iphone that i use for work so i will make sure not to upgrade or do anything till i sync to gmail contacts...

A few lines of code on mobileme part could save people wo were paying like me for a cloud sync (mobileme) that never worked right from day one

If I turn off i could will my contacts return with the backup from 11/11/2011 that I made
