Deleted notes keep coming back

I sync notes between my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro.
Lately, I've been having a problem though ... Deleted notes seem to be reappearing in Mail.app (OS X) and in Notes.app (iOS). I've tried everything from deleting them to marking them as junk, to no avail .. They keep coming back. Sometimes it takes a few days (depending on how often I sync), but they always come back.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Not that this is the preferable option, but why don't you try deleting them on all three devices, as when you delete it one device when you sync it it may just be syncing the note back rather than syncing the change (the note no longer being there) onto the other devices. It may be just a sync setting.
