Hi!

I'm using Snow Leopard version 10.6.8

I had a 50GB partition setup with parallels desktop which I wasn't using at all so I deleted it in Disk Utility. Then I tried to resize the remaining partition Macintosh HD to take up the extra space but it gives me the error:

"Partition Failed - Could not modify partition map because filesystem verification failed"

Any ideas how to resize it and reclaim that empty space?

thanks!

If all else fails, you could do the following:
1. Create a bootable clone of the existing partition (using CarbonCopyCloner) to an EXTERNAL drive
2. Boot from the external cloned drive.
3. Use Disk Utility to completely RE-INITIALIZE your internal drive with one partition (which should now use ALL the available space on the drive)
4. Re-clone the contents of the external back to the internal drive

Yes, involves some work (and you need an external drive), but this WILL work.
