Deleted System Preferences

Hey everyone,

I accidentally deleted my system preferences somehow and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it back. I am fairly new to having my MBP. I am working with 10.6.7. If anyone can help out, I would really appreciate it!

Deleted System Preferences from your Dock? Just launch it from your Applications folder, then, when it's open, right-click on the Dock icon and select "Keep in Dock"

Have you tried searching for it in Finder?

Indeed I have. I have no idea how this happened, but it is not there either!

If it's truly gone, then reinstalling the OS should bring it back.

Install Pacifist to extract the app from your Mac OS X install disk.

if it is truly gone, you might be able to use Pacifist to extract it from the OS X install DVD.

You don't have to reinstall the OS. Read the other responses about Pacifist.

Did you download pacifist and put in your mac install disk? Afterwards you just have to click "open apple install disks" and then wait a minute while it opens. Next, I would just put in "System Preferences.app" in the search bar and see what you find. The system preferences app file should come up, and you should be able to copy it back onto your mac from there.
