This has happened has iphone OS3 and continues on in iOS4.
I usually like to clear the clutter from my text messages. So I usually delete texts every couple of days.
However, if the same person text me again, the old text messages re-appear that I assume was deleted.
Why does the iPhone do this? Is there a way to permanent clear the deleted texts (short of a restore). And no, I never backup the iPhone on the computer.
My BB Bold 9700 also has a habit of doing this (deleted texts re-appearing after deleting and the same person texting you).
FYI: I am not doing any Tiger Woods text messaging cheating on my wife or anything like that. I just like to keep a clutter free iPhone. I routinely delete/restore all my computers every 4 months ago. I just like it that way.
