I used migration assistant to move from my 2010-era MB Pro to a new MB Air after I'd already set up an account for myself on the MB Air. When I did the migration, I wanted to use the same name I'd already set up ("Gabe"), so I created another account called "Migrate," logged in as that, and did the migration, overwriting the original "Gabe" account that was created when I turned the thing on.

Migration went well, and afterwards, I deleted the "Migrate" user via Users & Groups in Sys Pref.

Now, when I restart, my logon screen shows only "Migrate" (which does not exist in /Users) and "Guest." It does not show "Gabe" (which exists). Oddly, this logon screen does not have any of that brushed metal background.

I click on "Migrate", enter a password, then the screen flashes and another logon screen appears, this time with only the "Gabe" and "Guest" accounts, and with the brushed metal background.

So, with that information...does anyone know how to get rid of that ghost account? There was a com.apple.loginwindow.plist~orig file that had the "Migrate" user in it, so I deleted that to no avail. The actual com.apple.loginwindow.plist file lists the "Gabe" account as being the last logged in.

Thanks,
Gabe

I've tried changing the password, and re-creating the "Migrate" account, too, all in an effort to get things to refresh. All adding a Migrate account did was cause two Migrate users to show up on the first logon screen. Otherwise the behavior was unaffected.

Can I just whack those com.apple.loginwindow.plist files and call it good?

Also, I have FileVault turned on, in case that matters.

Thanks again
