I am getting my iMac G5 ready to give to my nephew. He now has an administrator account and I've heard the best way to get my information off the machine is to delete my account. I have the System Profiler up and my admin. account highlighted, but the minus sign at the lower left is "grayed out" and I cannot delete the account. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If it is the only account, you cannot delete it.

You need to create a new administrator, logout and login with the new account in order to delete the old one.

Make sure the little padlock on the lower left hand side is open. By default its engaged so you cannot make any changes.

You better erase it, but just create another admin account and from there delete your account securely.
Agreed but from the sounds of it, the OP wanted to keep his system intact, i.e., applications already installed. He already stated that created a second administrator account and was only looking to delete his account to remove any personal info residing in his home folder.

Ups, then I misunderstood.
