Anyone have any idea why deleting files of all types on my desktop takes several seconds yet everywhere else it's instantaneous? This happens on both my 2013 rMBP and 2010 MBA and I've only really noticed it on Yosemite, maybe Mavericks too.

Thanks,

I suspect that it's a finder issue related to purging desktop files from RAM images but simply have no idea. In the olden days cleaning up your desktop was often suggested as a way to speed up your mac for this reason.

Anyone experience this?
