I have only had my iPhone 4s for two days and it is a great device, but today I deleted ten emails from my iPhone and when I went to my PC email account, the same emails had been deleted there too. I thought I was only deleting them from the iPhone. How can I delete message only from iPhone but not have them also deleted at the same time on my PC? Thanks.

Not sure if you have Hotmail or GMAIL, etc, but if you go into Mail, settings, then the mail account and click advanced you see a section that says "Incoming Messages". It should say "Delete from Server"; change that from "when deleted from iPhone" to "Never". That will prevent you from deleting it from your PC inbox when you delete from your iPhone. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I use Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. I did as you suggested, but I could not find any "advanced" or "incoming messges" sections. Is this for the 4s or an earlier version? Maybe they changed something in the 4s.

I have an iPhone 4, but it should all be the same. When you go into "Mail, Contacts, Calenders" it should list your accounts at the top. Click on your Yahoo account, which is where you will find the advanced section you can go into. It's just above the "Delete Account" button.

This behavior is by design in IMAP and ActiveSync (Exchange) accounts. So the first thing to check is what type of setup on the iPhone you have for each email account.

If you want to delete from phone and not affect email on your computer, best bet is to set your iPhone accounts up as POP3. That will then show you the option Christopher387A mentions.

Personally, I love that I can delete messages from my inbox and never have to see them again on any device.

On a side note, if your iPhone accounts are set up as IMAP or Exchange/ActiveSync, your deleted messages should be in a Deleted Items folder in Outlook. So you should be able to move them back to the inbox if necessary,
