On the screen shot attachment, you will see an item Blue3.jpg in the left column. I must have dragged it carelessly and now want to remove it. It won't drag to trash, it can't be dragged into Pictures, where it belongs and it won't delete.

How can I remove it please, or at least drag it from there to where I want it? I have it stored elsewhere so I won't lose it.

Hi! It's easy if you know the trick: Hold the Command key down while you drag the file or folder out of the Finder Sidebar onto the desktop, it'll disappear in a puff.

As you discovered, placing a file in the Sidebar doesn't require the Command key.
