Sometimes, deleting one or more files (not folders containing files) on my external USB-drive connected to the AEBS makes Finder unresponsive. One of the cores goes up to 100 % and the fans blast away.

If I leave it, I can use the programs already open, but it's impossible to start new apps or access the Airdisk. Trying to force quit Finder results in a frozen computer.

I'm bypassing the issue by creating a folder in which I put the file or files that I want to remove and then removing the folder, but it shouldn't have to be like that...

Anyone knows what's going on?
