I transferred files on to my new mac. Some I want to delete. Dragging to trash or "move to trash" in Finder results in a request for the password. I enter the password. The trash noise comes but nothing happens. The file remains untouched. Any ideas?

Did the files come from another computer, and were you the Admin user for that? My *guess* is that permissions for those files that will not delete are/were different. Try Repair Permissions from Disk Utility, or use Onyx.

It was another machine and I think your "permission" "guess" was right on the money. Thanks.
