Deleting harddrive to in stall snow lepord

I first tried to install from restarting but I said I didn't have enough ra
ram to install or whatever I tried to delete my HD to make my comp faster as it's being slow but I lost the disk t came with so I bought lepord and don't have enought memory like I said but it's leting
me now erase the HD now I chose the option pass 35 and it's saying estimated time 13 days... Is it really going to take that long and when it's done will it then let me install snow lepord?? Please help thanks guys

You do not need to secure erase your hard drive with 35 passes, unless you are working for military intelligence. I pass would be sufficient if not.

Minimum RAM for Snow Leopard is 1Gig, so it still won't let you install.
