Deleting iPhone backups on my Mac??

It mentioned deleting iPhone backups to help free up space on my Mac. Would it make sense to keep the most recent backup and delete all the other ones? They go back as far as 2011.

That is exactly what I did. I had old backups for devices I didn't even have anymore. I just kept my most recent backups and deleted the old ones. It freed up a lot of space for me. I say go for it!

Great thanks. It also mentioned Time Machine local snapshots and the option to disable them. Does that free up any space?

That part I am not sure about. I just deleted my old back-ups.
