Deleting items from Downloads folder

I can't delete files from my Downloads folder. Selecting, highlighting just closes the folder. What's the secret?

How do you exactly delete items from the Downloads folder?
CMD+BackSpace, right-click > Move to Trash or drag & drop?

Have you checked Finder > select the file >> GET INFO >>> Sharing & Permissions yet?

Either control click the file...move to trash option

or

Customise top toolbar (under view menu) , and add Delete

Highlight, click on delete.

Use option  key to highlight multiple files, or click shift click to highlight consecutive files.

I always highlight the file and then press COMMAND DELETE. Works every time.
