Deleting items set for read but not write

Well, I've searched for the answer, but couldn't find it so I decided to post a new thread. What I'm trying to do is delete some files off of my flash drive, but I don't have the right permission to those files. I lent my flash drive to a family member, and they left some files on it. I don't have the right access, so now I can't drag the files to my Trash. Any suggestions as to how I can do this another way?

Copy anything you want to keep off the drive and format the whole thing?
