So Im sorry if this is a really basic question, but I have over 20GB used of "Messages" on my MacBook Air, and Im wondering if I go through and delete these, what I assume to be, attachments, from Storage>Manage, will they also delete from my other devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) ?

Thanks !

If you have iCloud Messages turned on for all of your devices, then yes the messages will be deleted everywhere.

With this being the case, why are these attachments stored on my laptop hard drive and not my iCloud?

Is there any way to stop them from being stored directly to my hard drive?

In Messages.app, open preferences and make sure the box "Save history when conversations are closed" is checked.
