Deleting outgoing mail and there is no outbox

My email provider (a university) changed their IMAP. When I tried to send a message over my iphone, it could not be sent. No big deal, but, what has been a major deal, is that there is no outbox listed to delete the offending mail that keeps tying up my iphone trying to send it. It is lost in the phone. Another email account of mine does not have an outbox either. I have looked in the Draft folder on it and there is nothing there. WHERE IS THE EMAIL SO I CAN DELETE IT? I checked with my email support team and they said it is in the phone because the outbox folder is still present on my email account.
HELP. I went to the apple store and no one knew how to fix it.

Try deleting the account on the phone then re-adding it. I'm not positive it would work, but it's worth a shot.
