How do I restore previous settings? I deleted Parallels bc it was slowing down the computer post installation, but the computer is still slow.

Also when I turnoin the computer I still get the message about needing appropriate boot disk to start unless I hold down the option button while turning the computer. It has been this way since I installed Parallels. I do not think I partitioned the drive when I installed Parallels. See below.
Go to System Preferences > Startup Disk* and select your Macintosh HD volume.
