Deleting photos in iPod touch

How do I delete photos directly from my iPod touch. There seems to be no icon to do this as compared to deleting contacts.

If they're Saved Photos you can just open each photo and tap the trash can icon at the bottom right on screen.

If they're in the Photo Library you'll have to use iTunes to remove them, AFAIK.
