All iPads Deleting photos, will snyc to empty folder delete photos from ipad

So I understand the problem with deleting photos that have been synced with a computer.

My question is, if I sync the photos with an empty folder on my computer,
a) will it delete only the sync'ed photos from the ipad
b) it will delete all of the photos on the ipad even the ones that are not the computer but only on the ipad? IE ones that were either taken with ipad camera or ones that were downloaded from web or email and put into camera roll.

I need to know because I'm working with mother in law ipad and if the answer is B then she will kill me if I lose all of her photos.

Are You trying to change the Photo Stream Folder of iCloud. If yes, then the old folder will still be there on your computer with all the pics.
