Is there a way to delete the preloaded bookmarks in Safari? I don't really need to have the URL's for Amazon/Ebay/Yahoo/et. al. in the bookmark list and would like to get rid of them. FWIW, I tried searching and couldn't come up with a combination of keywords to find the answer I'm looking for.

Just Show all the Bookmarks and delete them.

How do I actually do that? I have all the bookmarks showing but I can't figure out how to delete them. I've tried dragging them to the Trash, ctrl-clicking, command-clicking but none of those ways works.

I just hit the delete key on the folder when I did it.

when I want to delete mine all I do is drag them away from the bar.

Hmmm--I can drag them within the bar, but I can't move them vertically out of hte book mark bar or completely out of the Safari window...

Have you tried highlighting them in the "Show All Bookmarks" view and just hitting "delete" as Eidorian suggested?
