Deleting Preview items in app expose

i opened some pictures in preview some time ago. I've closed the pictures, and quit and restarted preview several times. But each time I go into app expose in preview, i see thumbnails of those pictures displayed at the bottom of the screen. It's been like that for a couple of days and I can't seem to find anyway to not let those pictures show. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thanks
