iPod deleting songs from shuffle

I cannot figure out how to delete songs from the shuffle?
When I bought it I loaded it fully with an existing library that was in itunes from my exgirlfreind now I want to get rid of half the songs and cant get them to go away? do I have to delete them completetly out of i tunes or is there a way to just remove them from the player?

No, when you connect your shuffle, simply select it when it appears in the left-heand column in iTunes. From there you can add by dragging and dropping or press delete to get rid of songs from the shuffle without changing your iTunes library. Or "Autofill" from your library or a playlist.
