Okay I have an iPod mini, and its been really good to me. Never really filled up the 4 gigs, until the other day, so i decided to delete some albums. Well i dont know if its meant to do this but when i delete an album , the album dissapears but the songs stay on the iPod. This is getting really irritating  cos this means i have to find them in the iPod 'libary' and then delete them. I dont know if this is normal, i searched for this on the forums and on the apple forums but found nothing.

Thanks in Advance

Are you just deleting an album playlist?? If so, you need to go into the iPod "library" and delete them from there. Deleting the playlist doesn't get rid of the songs, just the playlist file.

When you say that you "delete an album", do you really mean a playlist (and not an album when Browsing)?

If so: You can delete songs from a playlist and at the same time delete them from the library by holding down the alt butten (I think it was) and then press delete... Just deleting playlists (or songs from playlists does NOT delete them from the library by default, and thank Steve for that...)

In stead of deleting songs from your library, why don't you just make one (or more) playlist(s) with just under 4 GB (or 3.7 or whatever the real space of the mini is) and sync that/those lists...? That way you don't risk 'overfilling' your iPod...

How did you add your songs to the iPod? Manually, syncing all or syncing selected playlists?

Also, is this songs you (also) have in your iTunes library and, if so, do you want to keep them there and just not on the iPod?

 TO DELETE ALL SONGS OFF YOUR iPOD:

On Windows xp (possibly macintosh): Go to iPOd Options (Has its own button when iPod is connected) and click on: Manually Update iPod (at bottom) . It will warn you that you have to manually eject, just click O.K.

Then go to your iPod Library (music list) and Select All. Then Delete. Its as easy as pie. :D I'm not sure but, You might have to delete the iPod playlists too.

How do I delete from my IPOD

Okay I am new at this talk to me like I am baby.
I am trying to delete music from my IPOD. I am reading the previous posting and the directions that were giving to those posting DO NOT WORK FOR ME.
My first screen on my IPOD is: Music, Photos, Videos, Extras, Settings, Shuffle Songs, Now Playing. From those choices where do I go to delete music I do not want?

I do all my deleting in iTunes. When you see your iPod sync up and list itself in iTunes, you can select that on the left side, which will bring up all it's songs on the right side. Then simply highlight the ones you no longer want, and hit delete. It will only delete the songs from your iPod, and not your library.
