Hey guys,

I recently made a copy of my home directory "danbrown", and named the copy "danb".

I created a new user account named "danb", and associated it with the copy home folder "danb".

Can I delete the old user account "danbrown" as well as the old home folder "danbrown" without anything bad happening?

I want to preserve all my data and applications, just want to rename my user account and home folder basically.

Any tips? Thank you very much

Okay so I actually followed those instructions beforehand. What I did was change the name of the folder, and it made a COPY of the old named folder (with default user data as if creating a new user), and the newly named folder had my original data in it.

So what should I do with the newly created "danbrown" folder? Delete it? I am asking if it is safe to delete that folder. As well as my danbrown account (my old account).

9. After verifying that your data is as expected, you can delete the original user account via the Accounts pane of System Preferences.
When you delete the account, you're given the option to delete the folder, as well.
