Is there a shortcut on the keyboard to delete an item.

In windows XP you can hit delete while an item is selected and it will move the item to the recycle bin. The only way to delete stuff in Mac OS X that I know of is to drag to the trash or highlight items in finder and click the delete button on the top (customizable option).

I would really like a keyboard shortcut.

Thanks!

You have to click on the file/icon then push down the apple key and the backspace key at the same time. It should delete it
