Yesterday I got shipping notification andthe delivery date on the FedEx tracking site was June 24th by 5pm.

Today the date changed to June 23rd by 5pm!

Possibly getting it a day early? I know they will probably hold it till the 24th, but why would the date change from 24th to 23rd?

It does not matter as it will not get deleivered before the 24th. All these same things happened back when the iPad shipped from China and no matter what date you see it will NOT arrive early.

Relax, you only got a few more days to go and in only 6-8 months we will be talking about the iPhone 5!

definitely weird. i wouldn't expect it a day early either, but I'd be curious to know if you were the only one.

I'm still wondering why my card has not been charged, hoping maybe I got it for free this year.

I'm sure they will hold it till the 24th. I just didnt understand why it started off as 24th then changed to 23rd. I know people have had theirs start as 23rd but never heard of anyones date change to a day early, which is why I am curious.

Mine says June 23rd by 10:30am but they will hold them all so don't watch the dates. It is the system generating it and it means nothing right now.

Mine has the same date. When I spoke to Fedex, the guy said I should get it by the date of delivery, which is the 23rd. Blah as long as I get it by the official launch date, Im a happy camper :D Im just impatient.

Mine says june 23rd... by 10:30 am fed ex comes around 8 am. I called fedex and asked if there was any kind of hold order on my shipment and i even told them it was a iphone which they were aware of loads being shipped.. they said no it will be delivered by the time that is listed!!!!!!

btw fedex takes pride in on time deliveries.. if they were going to hold it it would say june 24th.. thats what the rep told me

BTW Apple takes pride in not having their products flood the market earlier than they say they will, and I imagine FedEx takes pride in not angering major customers like Apple by shipping products earlier than they're supposed to be shipped.

An "on time delivery" in this case is June 24th. Earlier than that would not be "on time." It would, however, probably lead to FedEx getting a much smaller chunk of Apple's shipping business next time.

Do we need to go thru this every release. Sorry to burst the bubbles but it will not be delivered on the 23rd despite what they tell you. They will be held in process so they are delayed to the distribution centers. They are not being delviered as single units to the centers, they are bulk. What Fedex is telling you is based on the standard system processing.

If you get yours on the 23rd please post pictures. Prior to that search ipad deliveries, 3g and 3GS release. It is like a broken record.

another year and another bunch of hopefuls. this is like the Idol of Iphones. no you are not getting it early unless you go down to your fedex depot with a shotgun and a ski mask

Again I was just posting because I was curious that my date had changed to a day early, which I had not read from anyone yet. So there is no need to be rude. I'm sorry if this was dealt with before, but some of us aren't here for every release.

We'll just have to wait and see if it's "out for delivery" on the 23rd. Heh there should be a poll as to who thinks it will do what.

I keep hearing everyone saying they will hold it because that's what they've done in the past. However, there is a chance they'll deliver at least some early (which could be several thousand units) to lighten the load on the activation servers on the 24th. I mean, it's possible they've learned from the past couple iPhone launches.

Correction. On time delivery is by the time it says it will be delivered by in your tracking history. it says the 23 it will be delivered then.. says the 24 will be delivered then.. call fedex if you like mine will not be held till the 24th... fedex is the most reliable shipper in the world... apple will not be getting rid of them anytime soon. the reason some are getting there early is apple just can't send them out all in one day!! you should try sending out over 500,000 iphones :p call before you post saying ontime is the 24 please..

no rudeness just saying what fede told me is that there is no hold on mine anywhere in the system and I will get it on june 23... I will post screen shots of the fed-ex tracking page when it is delivered as I will not be back in the country yet. either way i get it the 24th haha. but I will get the shots up!

@ginsengbomb i'll be sure to pm you one ;)

I think in the past the exceptions show up around the time they hit Anchorage, so we should see em soon I would expect, if we are going to see them.

1. Apple Stores, AT&T, Best Buy, Radio Shack & Wal-Mart are all going to be selling walking and/or reservation stock on Thursday 24th as soon as they open.

2. FedEx can't guarantee early delivery to all those stores and those stores have to prepare for the day.

3. iPhones will arrive by FedEx to those stores on June 23rd.

4. All our iPhones pre-ordered for delivery to our addresses shipped in bulk with the Apple and other retail stores to all the various cities.

5. So of course your phone will be arriving in your city on the 23rd, just like it does for Apple and Best Buy, etc.

6. The difference is unless FedEx screws up and lets any slip through, they will hold your phone for delivery to the next day so you don't get it early.

7. Sure you might actually get it later in the day than someone who goes down to a store at 7 AM on Thursday, but you don't have to surround yourself with all that madness either. And it won't matter if you have a reservation, I still don't want to be at an Apple Store on June 24th if I can avoid it.

For the love of god... 500,000 packages isnt that much. They will handle over 9 MILLION packages between Monday and Thursday. They sold 600,000. How many of those will be going to apple stores/ ATT/ Best Buy/ Radio shack over the next couple of days? Im guessing that they will do 200,000 home deliveries...considering they have over 400,000 delivery trucks world wide, I dont think it is going to be a big deal. You guys need to stop thinking that the iphone 4 is the holy grail.

Also...you really think Apple would have picked Fedex as the main carrier for delivery if they didnt have the means to hold and deliver the packages on launch date? Will a few slip? Yes... but Im sure there is a contract between Apple and Fedex to hold them just like they have always done in the past.
