I'd been using this Dell monitor with a Dell tower for a year or two, when the tower died and I replaced it with a MacBookPro, Leopard, at the first of the year; the op system is kept updated. I hooked it up to the Dell monitor and as far as viewing is concerned, it's fine. I got a logitec cordless mouse and keyboard and tucked the mac under the monitor. I have an external drive hooked up to the firewire port. Everything ALMOST works fine.

BUT: I tend to keep the machine in sleep mode. Restarting when needed after adding a new piece of software works fine. But when I need to shut it down, to cool it off, or to use it as a portable, when I restart the mac goes to sleep as soon as I close the lid, even though it's hooked up to the monitor. I've found that if I first go to the Apple menu and restart, it boots up fine with the external monitor and I have no further problems. I've reset the smc but that doesn't fix it. I have not tried resetting the PRAM.

Could it be that a newer version of the monitor driver would help? Does any of this ring bells with people? I do NOT have the problem that I know some have, with it not waking up after sleep. Just with the startup from cold.
