For those who are interested in this monitor, I found this at digg.com, good deal

Dell Home offers the Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor for $699. Coupon codes "D8Q403R9G4FJ32" (35% off) and "82JMMHN1GRWXLZ" ($60 off) drop it to $394.35. Add $2.60 for shipping and handling. Deals end October 13 at 7 am ET or at 4,000 uses

Sheesh, you guys get such amazing deals on these screens....mind you it maybe just as well we don't, or I'd have a room full of unused screens by now - they're such a steal!!!!

What is the difference between there regular flat screen LCD and widecreen. Is it like a widescreen dvd, where it is not going to use the full screen?

They are finally on offer here in Norway too now. 35% off.
Shame I just got the letter from the taxman today, telling me how much I owe from last year :(

Why are these deals for the US only (and Norway, apparently)??

If they had a deal like that in Canada or Australia, I would have bought a 20", or possibly a 24" already.

ditto, the cheapest i have seen is $1299 for the 24" and $999 for the 20"

it uses the full screen unless youre watching a fullscreen dvd or playing a fullscreen game right?

no it doesnt,"widescreen" DVD movies are 16x9 the 2005fpw is a 16x10 aspect ratio, but its almost filled, small black bar top and bottom, maybe 1 inch?

I ordered another one today as well for $396.95 shipping included, earlier today. I think the there was a coupon for 35% percent off the 2405FPWs as well. Another good place to check for coupons is XPBargains.

Just so everyone also knows, you can order the 1905FP for $300. If you make the price of the 1905 go over $500 (before rebates) you can use the $60 off, $500 or more. So, if you buy something between $21 and $25, you get it for free:) I bought a usb hub, but they also had mice in that price range as well. I was going to get a USB key, but there was a 2-4 day shipping wait.
Here are the codes:
$35 off $300 RR$V1661CVL315
$60 off 82JMMHN1GRWXLZ $500
30% off $S7B1NHQMC0?SX for the 1905FP
Taxes, shipping, everything, I got it for $323.11, including the usb hub. If I didn't add the hub, it would've been $232.94

I ordered mine a few days ago for $394. She arrived today and I love it! Helluva deal. :D

Actually, DVD movies are usually 2.35:1 now. 16:9 is for widescreen television and some older movies. The widescreen monitors will still have significant black bars (since movies usually are about 21:9 for comparison). Widescreen displays will have much larger pictures than a corresponding "standard" display of the same size, but the black bars aren't going anywhere.

Finally ordered mine, was bummed out when the old coupons wouldn't work last Sunday.

$422.75 including tax, can't complain. And if they lower the price further next week (which odds are they might), I can haggle for a dell gift card. =)

Yes, but then you have to spend more money at Dell. Sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth.

Oh I see your point.

Usually that'd be a good point, but my dad was planning on buying a "cheap" system from them, and I've been eyeing their low price on the Casio Exilim Z750. Plus those coupons really do come in handy from time to time ^_~

just thinking about the price of a powerbook in USA and the price in Australia makes me so upset and disappointed....

Got my 2405 for $998cdn during their 10 Day Event last month.

mmm... .2005fpw.

Mine was delivered today. I will say that even considering all the great reviews it's received on MR, the display is even nicer than I anticipated. The screen is large, bright, and beeeautiful. :D It's definitely a welcomed addition to my 12" PB.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad I got the Dell 20" instead of Apple's. For the money, it's essentially the same product. I also appreciate that the Dell is adjustable, and that it has multiple inputs.

I'm a happy customer.

That deal is amazing, if anything it was going at that price in the UK i would jump on the bandwagon, but unfortunatly i think they are selling for quite a bit more on the UK dell store.....

Those 20.1" screens are the perfect companion to any mac,

Shadow

Haha, I thought so too. In fact, when I ordered my monitor, I ended up with a $90 discount code because they're inept at life in general. It disappeared from my account 3 days later. I had to call twice to get it reinstated, and then redeemed it on a Plextor USB TV tuner (which I bought specifically because it advertised a remote and was documented to work with MythTV).

Turns out that it doesn't come with a remote, so they attempted to replace it 3 times, even after I explained every time that the website was incorrect and that I expected to receive a remote control product that I was told came with the product. I wound up with 3 of the tuners, which they then wanted me to return at my expense and get a refund of what I paid (about $80) and lose my $90 discount in the process. I refused, so they sent me a return airbill and sent someone to pick up the units. Well, they only sent one airbill, so I only gave one back.

Jump to today, I still have no remote control and their website still says that it comes with one, even though I've contacted them a total of 6 times (4 phone calls and 2 emails) about the error, which I'm sure has pissed someone else off by now. All that, and I was just buying an accessory to use my discount!

EDIT: And best of all, one of my phone calls included a comical exchange where the service rep told me that I didn't order the TV402, but actually a cheaper product, because I only paid about half the price, and the TV402 was $179, etc. Obviously, with my customer and order numbers, the computer in his face clearly stated what I'd ordered! Fools, all.

I feel the exact same way, just got mine yesterday. I love the tilting, rotating, swiveling motions. Plus all the connectivity of multiple imputs. I love it. :D
