I am planning on using Screen Span Doctor to hook my new ibook 12" to either a Dell 20" 2005fpw or Apple Cinema Display 20". Is there any reason to pick one over the other? Thanks

The ACD has a firewire hub and looks nicer. Those are about the only reasons.

But the Dell has a far wider range of inputs (DVI/VGA/SVideo...) and can do picture in picture...

I am sorry to say, you do not have any choice, you have to go with the dell. The iBook only has VGA out and the Apple monitor only has DVI-D in. An adapter to go from VGA to DVI-D is a few hundred dollars, so I think youll have to go with the dell. the dell is a very nice monitor though, its what i use with my PB (rev A, its the only 12" PB to NOT have DVI :-/ )

A few hundred dollars? I'm sorry, but please tell me you are joking.

Umm....I think you are mistaken. We use them at school all the time. Amazon has one here for $9.99.

Far from a few hundred dollars!

That's a VGA to DVI-I adapter, and it will not work for DVI-D only displays.

first of all there are MANY posts about this but that is ok, I was faced with a similiar decision and i went with the dell...i get more than just one input so i can have my PC and Mac on on monitor so i can with one button switch...they are pretty much the same actual LCD and the Dell is cheaper...the apple LOOKS nicer and is just as nice of a display but it is not, dare i say, worth the money?

I would definitely get my money's worth if I owned one. Actually I plan on getting the 20-inch model when the price comes down. When I spend that much money on a product, I spend it with all this in mind:

- Looks very nice
- Designed with fashion in mind
- Works well
- Expansion (in this case, the FireWire hub, which is an EXCELLENT extra if you ask me)
- And did I mention it has to look nice?

I'll be getting mine when I order my Power Mac G5. The two will look so good together you'd think they are married! :p

I got 2 of the 2005fpw and 2 of the 2405fpw and I can tell you they are the BEST monitors available and I paid $400 for the 2005fpw and $750 a piece for the 2405fpw. Big plus... you can hook up a tv or an xbox to it along with your mac. Dell rules.

Dell has some amazing deals on their LCDs right now. Ordered a 20.1" 2005FPW from them two days ago. Normally $699, got it for $394 including shipping. I'd say go with the Dell. For that price you could get two!

My 2005FPW just arrived and I got it all setup. This thing is amazing. :D :D :D

Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW 24-inch Wide Aspect Flat Panel LCD Monitor

Does any one know if this monitor will work with a 12" powerbook because i'm just about to buy a powerbook and was wondering if the display would work.

The Mobility Radeon 9200 can drive 1920x1200, so I see no reason the newer 9550 can't do the same.

I'm assuming that the HP F2404 is the same, correct? and if so which is the better, the HD of the HP seems interesting.
