Dell Monitor does not get a signal over TB/Display Port?

Hi,

I have plugged a Dell 2709W Monitor into my MBA 13" 2011 over a Minidisplayport - DVI Adapter. The MBA recognizes the monitor as Dell 2709W but the monitor itself does not get an image. All it says is: "no signal"

From my Windows PC the signal is working.

What can be wrong? thunderbolt issue?

I have a 30" Dell monitor I am wanting to try, but I am wondering if the dual link DVI adapter is needed for bigger monitors? I have no clue, just uneducated speculation.

might be of some help. Its specifically about the 30" ACD but I'd think it would apply to any Dual link monitor
