I just got a Dell S2209W for £135 as it was on sale. I have been using an iMac and MacBook (glossy screens) for the past 2 to 3 years and the first thing I noticed was the wet looking matte screen. Maybe this is how all matte screens are and I'm just used to the glossy mac screens? It is very distracting and wil lbe sending it back.

Are all matte screens like this?

If not, I was going to splash out and get the well-reviewed 2209WA.

However, the 2209WA has a lower resolution.

cristo,

Do you have a picture of what you're referring to?

I tried to take a photo, but can't capture what I'm talking about.

Is this not a common observation?
Maybe I'm overreacting?

It's mainly visible on bright colours like whites and greys, like on this forum.

To be honest I'm not sure.

I have (2) of the 2209wa and thought if you had a picture of what you're talking about I could see if it is present in my monitors.

Maybe it's just how matte screens are.

I have another query. I am trying to calibrate the screen with my MacBook in Display settings and with SuperCal. In OS X it states that the oval should be just barely visible by turning the brightness down, but when the brightness is at the lowest (0) I can still see the oval perfectly well and the two sides of the outer shape are different shades. I can't get the screen to display colours as I want them, what do you suggest?
