I don't game, edit photos, or anything that would require a nice monitor. I basically just need more screen space. I found this Dell 19" widescreen LCD at Dell.com for $119! I couldn't pass that up. It ended up being $129 shipped.

I will be using this monitor along with my Macbook. Do I need mini DVI to VGA, or mini DVI to DVI-D?

You want a mini-DVI to DVI-D cable. VGA is an analog standard while DVI is digital. You'll get better output on your display by keeping things digital.

Thanks a lot! I figured digital was the clear choice but I wanted to check with the experts before I bought the cable.
