Dell sp2309w (monitor) line-in not working

Hi,
I got my Dell sp2309w monitor a few months ago, and everything worked right out of the box (a lot of reviews said that the webcam and microphone don't work, but they do!). Today I tried hooking up headphones to the line-out at the bottom of the monitor, but my macbook doesn't seem to recognize them.

Any suggestions?

Ok, if anyone is wondering, I think I found the solution:

You have to connect the PC's line out to the monitors line in; the sound is not transferred via the USB cable (as I was hoping).

A little pointless, to design the monitor like that, if you ask me...
