Dell ST2210b Monitor is detected but not displaying anything

Hi all - I have a situation with a new iMac where the external display, which is connected via mini display port --> DVI adapter, is being detected by the computer but not displaying anything. I have restarted the computer, changed through all of the resolutions and done just about everything else I can think of.

Does anyone have any experience with this behavior? I am willing to try anything!!

I had a similar thing happen to me, but with my macbook and NEC external. It would flash blue and detect the external, but nothing would display! I tried to do everything I could think of and read about for 2 whole evenings. It turned out that I had a bad mini-dp to dvi adapter. I took it to Apple, and the genius replaced it with a brand new one that was in the retail aisle.

Maybe that is the problem i'm having. I'll have to check it out...
