I wouldn't use the Viewsonic because it has a TN panel. It's probably fine if all you're doing is browsing the web, email, word processing, etc. But it's not good for graphic design work since the colors/contrast can shift when viewing at even a slight angle (which probably happens a lot since it's a large screen).

the colors are really dark when looking up at the screen, and since it's so huge, it's hard not to be looking up at it, so I often have to stand up in order see everything in the shadows in a game.

Well I haven't really noticed that, but I'm not a graphics guy. Actually the 22" Dell I have at work is a LOT worse.

Or you can get a 28" ViewSonic WUXGA for under $700 shipped.

I have one. It (mostly) rocks. Great display for a great price. My only complaints are difficulty of getting some of the cables plugged in, not-great speakers (but I didn't get it for speakers anyway), and I wish it tilted more. Still, excellent value.

I dislike ViewSonic. The Dell is using a Philips screen, just like the Apple ACD 24".

I have two ViewSonics and their LCD's are kinda bland for me. I stick with Samsung and the more expensive Dells (or Apple ACDs)
