I don't know what to do.

Yesterday, i receive a new monitor from Dell (UltraSharp U2410)

I plug the monitor to my iMac (aluminium mid 2007).

The iMac detect the monitor but the monitor send me a message that is telling he don't receive any signal the computer and after few second is going in sleep mode.

It's the first time a use an external monitor and i really don't know what to do.

Somebody have any idea ?

What type of connection do you have between the iMac and the display?

Could it be a "cabling" issue?

Other thought -- if you're connected via digital, you might consider a "VGA adapter", and try that way, to see if it will make a difference.

Another thought -- could the display's input settings need tweaking?

A similar issue happened to me with a different monitor. I thought it was a problem with my computer or the monitor, but it turns out it was just my mini-DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter. Replacing it with a new adapter made everything work perfectly. Have you ruled this out as a possibility, perhaps by trying the same setup with a different monitor?
