Delteted Item Reappear After Mountain Lion Install

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion this evening. I noticed that three files (two movies and a pdf) that I sent to the trash and then emptied from the trash three days ago are back. All three of were in my download folder and had been gone for over 72 hours. Can anyone tell me why they showed up again after installing Mountain Lion?

Did you originally save them to the cloud? That would explain their reappearance.
