Demo iPhone 3G in stores before July 11th?

The boxes sent to all the retailers in loads of countries - will they be shown in stores before July 11th? Anyone with a local Apple Store care to go and check? My nearest one is over 20 miles away!
 
I rang Apple this morning at 9 and they said display models wont be in the shops untill July 11th im afraid!
 
I'm gonna call mine today. I seriously can't believe we hace to wait until July 11. I thought they would be released next week at the latest.
 
FCC approval takes 30 days. They most proberly have the iPhones in Steves front room waiting to go out but just need FCC approval first.

i think we all need to calm down and take a deep breath and love the iPhone we have atm! And if you dont have an iPhone atm.... WHY THE HELL NOT! and you only have yourself to blame :)

it is already registered with the fcc.. it showed up this morning... weirdly though there is a note about apple asking to hide certain aspect till after launch.. makes me think there are a few secrets left up apple's sleeve about the iphone 3G;)
 
So what was all that about the mystery boxes that were sent to stores? A single phone for each store so the employees can get to grips with it before it goes on sale?

Untill i see pictures in the shops of the demo models the boxes were fake!
 
Take a look at that! The rumors are not over yet!

Now would be a great time to know someone who works for the FCC!

I called my apple store and they said no iphones until july 11. Awhile ago when I called about the macbook air they said none were in stock but made sure to say they had plenty of demos, so I am assuming no one gets their hands on any iphones until July 11. AGHHHHH !!!!!!! I can't believe Steve did this to us..

I just worked it all out!

Its because of one of my previous posts, look at the attached picture, Steve still has something up his sleeve for the iPhone 3G, thats why there is a wait and thats why there is no demos.

Also, if this is correct, whatever was in the boxes was not demo iPhone(s) because it said it could be opened on June 9th.
 
Steve Jobs didn't even have one on stage yesterday. They are are making
them all as we speak.

The big deal is the required IN STORE activation at either ATT or Apple stores.
This is going to make last years intro look calm by comparison.
 
Wait, Powerfullmac...... they had demos at WWDC yesterday. And weren't all those boxes proven to be fake? I kinda think when he announced it yesterday with everybody watching he would have said everything he needed to say with all that attention surrounding the announcement though. What do you think?

Whether or not the boxes are fake is irrelevant.

The demos at WWDC are just so the press can report back on what was announced at WWDC. If there was nothing new why would Apple ask the FCC to hold back info until July 11th?
 
I thought the FCC thing was just released. I even saw a thread a little bit ago about the FCC thing. I thought they just told them to keep it a secret until they announced it (yesterday) ?
 
I just found the FCC thing you were talking about.... ha sry my bad. Maybe you are right. That is a little weird that they won't release the manual or certain pics. Hmmmmmm ............ ?

It has, but Apple said it wants parts of it hidden until the 11th. Link.
 
I found it! That is very interestting. It really makes me wonder know if apple has anything else up their sleeve. What could it be though? The only thing that would really be a surprise would be the video conferencing/front facing camera but I don't think people will be in shock and awe if they announce that later like a huge surprise.
