Is there an advertising company behind Apple's marketing campaigns and all the exquisite graphics that accompany new OS's from time to time, or is it an internal department responsible for all?

TBWA does the advertising. They don't have a hadn't in anything to do with designing the look of the OS's themselves.

The agency TBWA does the creative for campaigns you see on television.

Graphics you see on their website is done by an internal marketing and design team.

The OS itself (look and feel of BigSur for instance) is likely done by another internal UX design team.

depends, Apple uses a multitude of agencies for various work. they set the 'theme' or tone if you will but depends on the product or service.

What about the banners and the styling for each OS that appear on WWDC or similar events? Who does that work?
