Designing for iPhone 4 and 3GS - what screen resolution?

Can anyone tell me what the best resolution is to design for both iPhone 4 and 3GS when designing an optimised website for iPhone?

iPhone 4 is 960 x 640, 3GS is 320 x 480....

macrumors.com website renders the same mobile version on both phones, do they have specific version or does the iphone handle the rendering?
