So currently I have a flat desk a little like this:

And I use this for my MacBook, however I've just ordered a 23" monitor and I'm planning it on using it for my MacBook and for my Xbox. I'm wanting my desk to have a monitor shelf on it so I can place my monitor on top of the shelf, and hide place my MacBook and my Xbox under the desk so I still have plenty of space and it doesn't look as messy!

How is the best way of doing this? I don't want to buy a brand new desk as this one is fairly new, is there anything I could buy such as a monitor stand or would I be best trying to do DIY with a shelf and some small legs?

Thanks!

there are tons and tons of monitor stands out there to choose from. But to get something that matches, you can make one pretty easily.
