I have a 2024 iMac M4 running Sequoia 15.3.1

My integrated camera works just fine with FaceTime, OBS, etc. --high resolution, everything is sharp

but when I use the Desk View application, the screen is a bit blurry, and words are hard to read. The resolution seems much lower.

has anyone experienced this? Normal? Any way to adjust or fix?

Normal?
The laws of optics suggest that any image that is ~75º off axis to a lens is at the periphery of the field of vision, and will be subject to various distortions and aberrations.

The iMac has a 12 MPixel sensor, so the number of pixels being used for a few degrees of the periphery is going to be quite low.

Apple's master card in overriding the laws of physics is AI. They are taking an obliquely viewed small section of the periphery and attempting to recreate it undistorted, and at the same acuity as the normal full screen resolution of the webcam.

So what you are seeing has to be Apple's best attempt at making 'normal' an image that is extremely abnormal.

Is it good enough...?
Your call... ;)

Disclaimer: I don't have a Mac with a webcam, so I haven't seen it.
People who stream video where the view of their desk top is important use an overhead camera, and switching software.

No, not normal--I had the same problem today, it was as though it was applying the background blur to the image. In the past, it has worked fine, but today it was basically illegible, and I also don't understand why.
