The Desktop background image that I select will not "save" -- after restarting the system, the background always reverts to the "Mohave Night" image. Is there some way to LOCK the desired background image? Admittedly this is a minor concern but the behavior is wrong...

I’m not near my Mac to test. But I wonder if it’s cuz you have dark mode enabled?

I have night mode enabled as well. Only time this has happened to me is when I remove the wallpaper file from my hard drive.

I created a wallpaper folder and put all my backgrounds in there. Add that folder to the desktop background setting page and I’m good to go. Stays even on reboot.

Coming from Windows I was used to setting a wallpaper and not having to keep the file around.

Yes, I have dark mode enabled.... will revert to normal mode and see if it clears up. And thanks, I will also create a wallpaper folder as it seems to be tripped up by having multiple image folders available to use for backgrounds.
